Sea Warriors score two
in 10th to tame Wolves

Hawaii Pacific scored twice with two out in the bottom of the 10th inning last night at Hans L'Orange Park for a dramatic 5-4 baseball victory over visiting Western Oregon.

The Wolves (2-6) scored a run in the top of the 10th, but HPU put together three hits, and Wade Taguchi crossed home plate with the winning run.

Eli Lloyd pitched 10 strong innings for the Sea Warriors (7-6), striking out eight..

Vols slam Vulcans

John Massey's grand slam in the fourth inning broke a 4-4 tie and Tennessee went on to a 14-6 victory over Hawaii-Hilo last night.

Chris Burke had four hits and three RBI for the Vols (5-1). Patrick Lynch homered for the Vulcans (7-9).

Barnett upsets Severn

Josh Barnett defeated Dan Severn by forearm submission in the fourth round of a scheduled five-round bout last night for a win the main event of FutureBrawl 2000 at Blaisdell Arena.

Some 3,000 spectators watched eight other undercard bouts that were dominated by California's Team Shark Tank. Winning their respective tournaments were John Alessio (middleweight) and Jay Martinez (light heavyweight.

Hawaii's Ronald Jhun of the Jesus Is Lord Gym was impressive in a TKO victory over AMC's Kim Mason in the featured light heavyweight bout.

Minvielle Regatta on tap

The seventh annual A.E. "Toots" Minvielle Invitational Regatta will take place at Keehi Lagoon Feb. 26.

Opening ceremonies begin at 8 a.m. and the regatta starts at 9 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow the race.
