University of Hawaii
"The Fantastic Normal Gentleman" explores subjects as
diverse as Shakespeare, the extinction of the dinosaurs
and basketball through modern dance.

Karl Schaffer and Erik Stern, known in modern dance as "Dr. Schaffer and Mr. Stern," will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and 12 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Kennedy Theatre.

The two also will present a free, sneak preview of the UH performance, entitled "The Fantastic Normal Gentlemen," at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Salt Lake Moanalua Public Library.

The dance duo have been together since 1987 when they put on "4-Footed Hamlet," an adaptation of Shakespeare's play. They have been touring nationally since 1989, and have performed for school children around the country.

Gregg Lizenbery, director of dance at UH, will also join the ensemble at the Kennedy Theatre production.

Tickets are $15; $10 for military, seniors, students and UH faculty; $5 for UH students. They are available at the theater box office or by phone at 956-7655.
