Sydette is still
singing and has a
marketing job

Question: What ever happened to Sydette Sakauye, who sang with the Orient Express along with Liz and Edda Damon before the group disbanded in the mid-1980s?

Answer: Sydette Sakauye Stanton is marketing/promotions director with Hawaii Kai Towne Center.

She moved there after working as promotions director with Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. "Basically, I was a singer until three years ago," she said. And she's not done. She has a gig next month at the Emerald Ball at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Recent gigs included the Miss Universe Gala, a warm-up act for Tony Bennett, and the Hawaii Jazz Festival, where she won a festival Silver Award.

Stanton also sang nights and worked days as a Realtor. She recorded two solo albums, with one being nominated for the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. She did guest solo recordings on six other albums, with the New Orleans Jazz Band and with Bob Nelson, and took her own show to the Far East. She also made mainland appearances.
