Castle keeps its
record unblemished
in OIA basketball

Paul Collins continued his hot hand, scoring 12 of his game-high 17 points in the second half as Castle remained undefeated in the Oahu Interscholastic Association East with a 48-36 victory over host Kahuku last night.

The Knights (7-0) also used key free throws, hitting 14 of 18 from the line, including an 8-for-8 performance by Collins in the last quarter.

The Red Raiders (3-4) were 0-for-3 from the line.

Castle trailed Kahuku,19-18, at halftime but broke open the game with a 14-4 spurt in the third quarter. Dayton Aberilla had 11 of his 14 points in the first half for Castle.

Alii Alisa and Aaron Francisco led Kahuku with 10 points each.

KAIMUKI 64, FARRINGTON 53: At Farrington, the Bulldogs (1-6) earned their first official win of the season by outscoring the Governors (4-3), 21-10, in the fourth quarter.

Kaimuki, which forfeited two earlier victories due to an ineligible player, got 19 points from Justin Faimealelei.

Chris Kamakeaaina added 13, eight in the deciding second half.

James Soriano led Farrington with 13, while Kenneth Gasilos added 12.

KALAHEO 63, ROOSEVELT 55 (OT): At Roosevelt, D.C. Daniels scored eight of his 36 points in overtime to lead the Mustangs over the Rough Riders. Ikaika Francis added 16 points for Kalaheo (6-1), draining three 3-pointers.

Keola Stietzel led Roosevelt (5-2) with 16.

CAMPBELL 53, PEARL CITY 50: At Campbell, Addison Medeiros sank both ends of a 1-and-1 with seven seconds left to ice the win for the Sabers (2-6) against the Chargers (2-5).

Pearl City, which got 18 points from Courtney Schirmer, had a shot to tie it in the final seconds of the game but a 3-point attempt fell short.

Randy Saramosing finished with a team-high 11 for Campbell.

Gantt finished with 18 points. Teammate Clifton Feliciano popped in 20.

Justin Miura scored 14 points for Aiea.
