Leonard H. "Leo" Abe, 95, of Kealakekua, Hawaii, a retired electrician with the former Kona Electric Light Co., died Friday in Keauhou Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was born in Hana, Maui. He is survived by daughters Pearl Uemoto and Grace Hiraoka; sons Robert and Francis; brothers Mike and Jimmy Takaoka; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Wayne K. "Tutu Man" Ako, 56, of Kailua-Kona, a heavy-equipment operator and rigger, will be remembered in memorial services 3 p.m. Sunday at Hale Halawai on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. Simeon K. Aylett, 80, of Honolulu, one of the original Waikiki beachboys who taught surfing and canoe paddling to visitors on Waikiki Beach, died Dec. 27. He also played music at the Moana Surfrider and the old Niumalu Hotel. He was born on Kauai. He is survived by wife Ilima; daughter Kelee; sons Kalani, Keoni and Kim; brother Big Jawn; two granddaughters; and companion Opae. Don M. Beasley, 90, of Pahoa, Hawaii, a retired printer for the Hawaii Newspaper Agency, died Jan. 6 at home. He was born in Lansing, Mich. Mary E. Connolly, 84, of Molokai, a retired senior clerk at Kalaupapa Settlement, died Dec. 30 in Honolulu. She was born in Iowa. She is survived by friends. Amanda C. Fernandez, 80, a retired teacher from Arellano University Elementary School, died Nov. 23 in Albuquerque, N.M.
