Roosevelt rides past
Kailua for 3-0 mark

Mililani girls finish
OIA West at 10-0

Chad Kapanui scored all of his points in the second and third quarters - 7 in each - to lead the Roosevelt Rough Riders (3-0) over the Kailua Surfriders (0-2), 67-37, in Oahu Interscholastic Association boys' basketball last night at Roosevelt.

Van Dorsey added 10 points for Roosevelt, while Kailua was led by Ammon Kaleo's 12 points.

At Castle, Paul Collins scored 23 points, the first eight in the opening quarter, as the Knights took command and the rest in the second half as they fought off the Falcons' comeback bid.

Brandon Ross popped in three 3-pointers for Kalani in the first half. Teammate Kimo Ormond scored all 11 of his points in the second half.

Johnna Rowland and Miki Asamura combined to pitch a three-hitter as Mililani's OIA West softball champions capped a 10-0 season yesterday with a 16-0 victory over visiting Nanakuli.

Tiari Keliinoi had two hits and Marie Jackson drove in three runs for the Trojans.

WAIANAE 6, LEILEHUA 0:

At Waianae, the Seariders (8-2) blanked the Mules (8-2) behind the three-hit pitching of Jasmine Choy to claim the West's No. 2 seed in next week's postseason playoffs.

PEARL CITY 11, AIEA 1:

At Pearl City, winning pitcher Rachel Lacar also had three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs, as the Chargers (7-3) whipped Na Alii (5-5).

Reliever Loihi McKeague retired all six hitters she faced, five of them on strikes.

ROOSEVELT 10, KAHUKU 0:

At Kahuku, Ashlie Dutro stroked four hits and winning pitcher Kelly Tanabe gave up just four, leading the OIA East champion Rough Riders to their eighth victory in nine games

April Crowell had three hits and four RBIs for Roosevelt. Lei Kauhi paired hits for the Red Raiders.

KAMEHAMEHA 18, MARYKNOLL 0:

Sarah Wong belted two home runs and Ashley Ruff and Napua Naumu hit one apiece for the Warriors in their runaway ILH victory.

Ashley Adams held the Spartans to three hits, two by Kelly Sato.

SACRED HEARTS 13, MID-PACIFIC 3:

At Mid-Pacific, Amber Juan, Kimi Daniel and pitcher Tina Gonsalves each rapped three hits and combined to drive in eight runs for the Lancers in another ILH game.

Iki Ishihara led the Owls with a pair of doubles.
