Parsons Dance Company
tours Hawaii

The New York-based Parsons Dance Company will stage two performances, at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 and 22, at Leeward Community College Theatre, and will also perform Jan. 19 at Kahilu Theatre on the Big Island.

Company founder and artistic director David Parsons was the leading dancer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company from 1978 to 1987, when he left to form his company. Since then, his modern dance company has performed on five continents to critical acclaim.

The Parsons dances are theatrical in nature, with an exuberant athleticism.

The company will stage master dance classes on Kauai, Hilo and Maui, which are being supported by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

Tickets for the LCC performances are $22.50 for adults and $18 for students, senior citizens and active military personnel. Call the LCC box office at 455-0385.

For tickets for the Big Island performance, call (808) 885-6017.

For information about the master classes, call 586-0307.
