Vulcans complete hoops
sweep of Holy Names

Alan Thomas scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Hawaii-Hilo to a 71-66 men's basketball victory over Holy Names (Calif.) last night at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

It was the second consecutive night that Thomas scored 28 points as well as the second night in a row that the Vulcans (4-6) defeated the Hawks (3-9).

Thomas was 10 of 20 from the field and 8 of 12 from the line in helping UHH rally from a 38-31 halftime deficit.

Scott Prather added 15 points for the Vulcans while Shannon Thomas led four Hawks in double figures with 14.

Quarterback Club speakers

Mililani soccer coach Jeff Yamamoto, Leilehua athletic director Richard Townsend, Honolulu Marathon president Jim Barahal and Hawaii basketball coach Riley Wallace will be the guest speakers at the Honolulu Quarterback Club's first weekly luncheon of the new year.

The Monday meeting at the Pagoda Hotel begins with lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon.

The public is invited.
