THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF
HAWAIIAN LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE

Da kine sounds

As we return to Vancouver's "kanaka" population, it turns out there's a Hawaiian-music radio show there, "Tropical Rhythms" on 96.1 FM. Christine Wagner of Honolulu visited the station to donate some Hawaiian CDs and snapped disk jockey "Kia'i" spinning platters of local-kine chatter. The broadcast can be picked up via Internet at http://www.FM961.com/english/ voices.shmtl

The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life in the Universe is just that -- we're looking for evidence of Hawaiiana everywhere but Hawaii. Send snapshots and a description to TSFSOHLITU, Today, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, P.O. Box 3080, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813, or e-mail JPEGS or TIFFs to features@starbulletin.com
