A unbeaten record and a loss by previous No. 1 Pacific has pushed the Hawaii women's volleyball team up a notch to second place in both national polls.

The Wahine (13-0) were narrowly denied the top spot in the USA Today/AVCA Top 25 by six points. Hawaii received 24 of 60 first-place votes for 1,458 points.

Penn State, last week's No. 2 team, had 33 first-place votes and 1,464 points.

Pacific fell two spots to No. 3 after its loss to UC Santa Barbara.

The Tigers, No. 4 Florida and No. 5 Long Beach State all received one first-place vote.

The top three Volleyball magazine rankings mirrored that of the AVCA poll. But the magazine has Stanford at No. 4 and Florida at No. 5.
