Francis K.M. "Franny" Ako, 18, of Nanakuli, will be remembered in wake services 7 p.m. Sunday at Jesus the Bread of Life, 89-446 Keaulana Ave. Call from 6 to 9 p.m. Call again from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Ellen C.T. "Lena" Alejo, 74, of Kilauea, Kauai, died Tuesday at home. Born in Waimea, Kauai, she is survived by husband Francisco "Socks"; sons Roland and Edwin Campos; daughters Geraldine Snow, Arlene Nimori, Stephanie Arthur, Mels "Honey Girl" Tejada, Veronica Sanchez, Winona Sheldon, Lorraine Rapozo, Marie Alejo, Ruby Tsukamoto, Diane Genegabuas and Beverly Boiser; sisters Miling Poli and Lydia Viernes; brothers Ed and Badong Bueno and William, Simeon and Cisco Apilando, 36 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Harry K. Brown Jr., 83, of Honolulu, a retired U.S. customs inspector, died Sunday in Honolulu. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Florence C.; sons Jonathan T.K., David A.K. and John H.K.; daughter Michele L. Akeo; sister Hawea Waiau, 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Carol C. Delos Santos, 57, of Swartz Creek, Mich,. and formerly of Hawaii, died Sunday in Hurley Hospital in Flint, Mich. She was born in Hawaii. She is survived by children Myrna and Paul, brothers Ted and John Mina, and sister Fely Camit. Services on the mainland.

Caesar "Papa" Diama, 64, of Seattle, and formerly of Hilo, a U.S. Army veteran, died Aug. 17 in Seattle. He was also an employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Maxine; son Curtis; daughters Cynthia P. and Celeste Diama, Claudia and Catalina Rose and Christina Conway; brothers William, Herbert, Ernest and Benjamin; sisters Alfreda Jitchaku, Catherine Campainha, Carol Brown and Winnie Campbell; stepdaughter Laveda Nichols, 16 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Maura E.B. "Urang" Garcia, 85, of Waialua, died Sunday in Wahiawa General Hospital. She was born in Ilocos Norte, the Philippines. She is survived by husband Felecito "Feling;" sons Alejandro, Constante, Agapito, Francisco and Rudy, and daughters Estrella Redira, Victoria Cristobal and Asuncion Mingming. Clarice H. Kajioka, 57, of Kailua, a retired clerk/typist for the state Department of Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation office, died Wednesday in Queen's Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by son Scott; daughter Jaymi Pikula; stepson Richard Ing; mother Shizuko Izuo; brothers Wallace, Lester and Robert Izuo; sister Jane Izuo, and three grandchildren. Kiyono Nakashima Kubota, 95, of Honolulu, formerly of Hanapepe, Kauai, a McBryde Sugar Plantation janitress, died Aug. 18 in Hale Nani Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Hanapepe, Kauai. She is survived by sons Hiroshi, Mitsuru and Henry; daughter Emiko Sugino; brothers Howard, Mutsuji and Henry Nakashima; sister Jane Sugawara; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Joel Lipsitt, 65, of Mililani, a retired major from the U.S. Air Force, died Aug. 19 in Tripler Hospital. He was also a financial planner for Mutual of New York. Born in New Bedford, Mass., he is survived by wife Yuki, son Michael, and daughter Nicole. Memorial services: 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. John B. Michaels, 71, of Lahaina, a plant assembly worker for Reynolds Aluminum Co., died Tuesday in Maui Memorial Hospital. He was born in Madison, Wis. He is survived by sons J. Roy B. Powell, 83, of Princeville, Kauai, a military intelligence officer for U.S. Air Force, died Tuesday at home. He was born in Georgia. He is survived by wife Mary F., daughters Susanne Wold and Christina Gorman, hanai son Tony Davenport, brother James, sisters Agnes Cloud and Alyce Gartrell, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Lorraine "Fountain" Rankin, 81, of Honolulu died Tuesday in Kaiser Hospital. She was born in Nawiliwili, Kauai.
