Nelson-Sasada leads match-play qualifying

Makena Resort professionals Kirk Nelson and Brian Sasada shot a best-ball score of 7-under-par 64 to lead the field into today's second round of the Aloha Section PGA Four-Ball Match Play Championship at the Oahu Country Club.

One stroke off the pace in yesterday's qualifying round was the team of Waialae's Kevin Ralbovsky and Ken Springer.

Kevin Kashiwai parred the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff to claim the 16th and last match-play slot for himself and partner Roy Adams over Brad Bowen and Eddie Lee. Kashiwai played the extra holes alone because Adams had to leave before the playoff started.

Defending champions David Ishii of the Pearl Country Club and David Chin of Navy-Marine automatically were seeded No. 1 for match play.
