Branching out at Baskin-Robbins

Robin Halbert is the new general manager of the Baskin-Robbins store at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki.

She has worked the last eight years as corporate district manager and business consultant for Allied Domecq Retailing USA, owner of the Baskin-Robbins brand, and worked on the company expansion in Hawaii.

Jay Westcott, owner and franchisee of the Baskin-Robbins store at the center, said a new kiosk will open in August and add nearly a dozen new employees to its 22-person staff. "This is the first kiosk for Baskin-Robbins in Hawaii," Halbert said. "It will be full service and the total cost is about $160,000."

Allied Domecq Retailing USA is based in Randolph, Mass., and is a subsidiary of Allied Domecq plc in Britain.

Halbert is studying business administration at the University of West Oahu and plans to go on and get her master's degree.

Baskin-Robbins has 22 franchises in Hawaii.
