Hyatt executive returns
to Hawaii -- again

Gerard C. "Jerry" Gibson returns to Kauai as general manager of the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa and its 900 employees. In 1990, he was food and beverage director when the resort opened.

He replaces Mark Heinzelman who has been promoted to general manager of Hyatt Lake Las Vegas.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be back in Hawaii," Gibson said. "It's my third time back in Hawaii, where I've worked 17 years."

Gibson has more than 20 years in the hotel business, starting in Hawaii at the Airport Ramada Inn. He joined Hyatt in 1980 at the Hyatt Regency Maui and also has worked at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Hyatt Regency Monterey in California, and as general manager at both the Hyatt Regency Chicago and Hyatt on Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio.

In 1983-84, he worked for an independent hotel, the El Dorado Park, in Austria.

Gibson earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Massachusetts in 1977.
