¡Viva la musica!

Mariachi en Hawaii will perform Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Borthwick Community Halls at 1330 Maunakea St.

This full-sized mariachi ensemble includes violins, guitars, guitarron, vihuela, trumpets and jalisco harp.

Even in Mexico, a full mariachi is a rare treat, usually hired just for special occasions.

The costumed group is a visual as well as aural feast. It's repertoire includes classical pieces such as "El Nino Perdido" (The Lost Child), "Las Alazanas" (Mariachi Trumpet Son), and "El Zopilote Mojado" (The Soaked Vulture).

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
