The Honolulu Zoo's dwindling flamingo flock will benefit from the AT&T Wildest Show in Town summer concert series beginning June 2 and continuing Wednesdays through Aug. 25.

Among those slated to perform are multiple Hoku winner Pure Heart, John Cruz, Palolo, Bluzilla and Audy Kimura.

This year, in addition to the one-hour concerts from 6 to 7 p.m., the AT&T Wildest Shows will include three extended dance parties, lasting until 8:30 p.m.

During Salsa Dance Night on June 23, audience members will have the opportunity to learn how to salsa with Roland Sanchez and Mini Ruiz and her dancers.

Free swing dance lessons will be offered at the July 23 Swing Dance Party, with music by Swingwood Revue.

At Alternative Rock Nite, concert goers will dance to the music of Rocky Brown and The Beat Poets.

This season, concert goers will be asked to donate $1 per person to the Honolulu Zoological Society.

The goal is to raise $35,000 to $40,000 to import new flamingos and repair the flamingo exhibit.

For more information, contact the Honolulu Zoological Society at 926-3191.

Highlights of the AT&T Wildest Show in Town 1999 include:

June 2 -- Typical Hawaiians (reggae)

June 9 -- John Cruz (contemporary island style)

June 16 -- Pure Heart (contemporary)

June 23 -- Salsa Dance Night, featuring Rolando Sanchez, Mini Ruiz and her dancers and dance demonstrations.
