Dawn Miyashiro of Hilo High School shot a two-over-par 74 for a two-stroke lead going into today's final round of the David Ishii State Girls Golf Championship at the Hapuna Golf Course on the Big Isle.

Aiea's Merynn Ito and Jaime Yoshimura of Kaiser were tied for second at 76, while Baldwin's Shayna Miyajima is fourth at 77.

Led by Miyashiro, who finished in a tie for eighth in last year's state tournament hosted by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association, the Vikings also held a two-stroke lead in the team competition with an aggregate score of 239 to 241 for Kauai High and Punahou.

This is the first year schools are playing for the girls' team championship.

Punahou's Jim Seki defends his individual title in the boys' 36-hole competition, which began today at the Waikoloa King's Course.

Waiakea High won the team title last year, when the tournament had a coed format.
