Blood pressure screenings

Nearly 700,000 Americans suffer from stroke each year. Thirty percent of stroke victims die; those who survive are usually left disabled. In observance of Stroke Awareness Month, the Neuroscience Institute at The Queen's Medical Center presents a free talk tomorrow, and free blood pressure screenings in May.

Dr. Cherylee Chang, medical director of Queen's Stroke Center, will present "Understanding Stroke," at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Queen's Mabel Smythe Auditorium. Topics to be covered are risks, symptoms, the need for early treatment and new treatments available. Prior to the talk, free blood pressure screenings will be given beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Chang will also be joined by stroke survivor Kate Klugman, who suffered a stroke at age 32. She will discuss her experiences as a patient.

Call 537-7117 for reservations.
