Helping sales grow
at Honolulu Cellular

Jessica Perez-Mesa will manage the business sales force at Honolulu Cellular, which is being acquired by AT&T Corp.

"We don't anticipate any changes, AT&T is in a growth mode," Perez-Mesa said. "I manage 11 sales reps and we go after small, medium and large businesses."

Perez-Mesa grew up in Kailua and went to St. Andrew's Priory School for Girls before moving to New York and earning a bachelor's degree in economics and English literature from Swarthmore College.

She stayed in New York and worked as an account executive at Institutional Investor magazine. Then in 1990 she decided to come home. "The grass is always greener (someplace else) and you don't really appreciate what you have in Hawaii," she said.

She worked three years as an account executive for Island Business magazine and then joined Honolulu Cellular in 1994 as an outside sales representative.

Perez-Mesa is a director of Junior League of Honolulu.
