West Hawaii Utility taps new GM

The West Hawaii Utility Co. has chosen Robert S. Spetich to be responsible for all utility operations for Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa Beach Resort and other West Hawaii operations on the Big Island of Hawaii.

"We're working on some utility rate cases with the Public Utilities Commission and we're also doing some long-range planning for additions to the infrastructure," Spetich said.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the design and pilot testing of water treatment plans and water well systems in Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. Spetich most recently was project manager for Aqua Engineers in Lawai, Hawaii. He also worked for Brown and Caldwell in Wailuku, Maui, and for CH2M Hill, in Portland, Ore. He originally came to Hawaii in 1978 and worked for M&E Pacific, Inc., Kennedy/Jencks/Chilton and GMP Associates Inc.

Spetich earned a bachelor's degree in bioengineering and a master's degree in chemical engineering from Cleveland State University.
