spring camp

The UH tailback is disciplined

University of Hawaii running back Charles Tharp is one of two players recently disciplined by new head football coach June Jones.

The leading rusher for the Rainbows last year will miss spring football, but can return to the program for fall camp.

''We have cut another player from our program,'' Jones said. ''I can't really say who he is because of the nature of the offense and the privacy issues involved. I'm not trying to be secretive. We just have to be careful how we handle this. It's unfortunate."

A source close to the situation confirmed the player dismissed is not a starter.
