So you want to be
a published writer?

The Honolulu Writers Conference has released the line-up for its 6th annual event, which will take place May 22.

The event will be at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Jefferson Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is designed to introduce prospective authors to national literary agents and book editors.

"Writers will gain practical tips and expert advice to help (them) get published," said Rich Budnick, conference organizer.

Presenters will include Kati Steele, editor at the Harcourt Brace publishing house, on how to get your novel published.

John Loudon of Harper San Francisco and Mariah Bear of Lonely Planet Books will offer tips on publishing non-fiction books.

And attracting a literary agent will be addressed by local literary agent Roger Jellinek and Ken Atchity, president of Atchity Editorial/Entertainment International Inc. of Beverly Hills.

The cost of the conference is $99, or $70 for students. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch.

To register, or for more information, call 395-1161.
