Helping link Hawaii with China

Chao "Robert" Zheng leads the Mainland China Overseas Association of Hawaii this year as the organization continues promoting networking opportunities and links between Hawaii and China. The association has approximately 100 members.

"We want to get more Chinese people to join us," Zheng said. "There are close to 1,000 mainland Chinese in Hawaii. We want to increase awareness in Hawaii."

The association will hold discussion seminars in late May.

He is a native of Changsha (Hunan Province) in China and moved to Hawaii in 1993 to get a master's degree in travel industry management from the University of Hawaii. Zheng joined the architectural design firm of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo as a research analyst in 1996.

The Mainland China Overseas Association of Hawaii is a nonprofit organization founded in 1995.
