Federal bank taps Hawaii attorney

Linda Chu Takayama has been appointed to a four-year term on the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle which serves Western states, American Samoa and Guam.

"The mission of the Federal Home Loan Bank system is community investing," she said. "It enables local banks, thrifts and credit unions to get funds for affordable housing, and, more recently, commercial and economic development." This is the first time in 12 years that a director from Hawaii has been appointed to the board.

Takayama is a partner with the law firm of Chun Chipchase Takayama Nagatani in Honolulu. She also was deputy director of the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and state insurance commissioner. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii and a law degree from George Mason University in Arlington, Va.
