Preparing for Royal
Waikoloan's face lift

Robin K. Graf takes over management of the 545-room Royal Waikoloan on the Big Island as it prepares for a $23 million, five-month redevelopment plan which starts June 1.

"It will be a metamorphosis," Graf said. "We will position ourselves to compete with the Kohala Coast Hotels and the higher end of the market."

When completed, the hotel will be renamed the Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Graf comes to Outrigger from Hilton Hawaiian Village, where he was resident manager. He is familiar with the Big Island. He also worked nearly five years at the Hilton Waikoloa Village as executive assistant manager/resident manager and five years at the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa as assistant executive manager.

Graf was a flight leader in the United States Air Force.
