Developer's group
reelects Lum president

Michael Y.W. Lum is leading the Hawaii Developers Council's efforts to speed up the approval process for projects.

"One of our biggest goals is to work closely with the city to streamline approvals and processes (for building permits and subdivisions)," Lum said. "We have a committee working on it."

The 100-member, nonprofit organization re-elected Lum president, a position he has held since March, after the death of the group's previous leader, developer Michael Myers.

Lum is vice president-project management and designs at Castle & Cooke Homes Inc. He joined the company in 1994 as a project manager in Mililani Mauka, and later was promoted to director of product development. He also was president and principal broker of ML Pacific Investments Inc. and project manager for Kaiser Development Co.
