team todayAh Yat, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior, led the Grizzlies to their third Big Sky championship in the last four years. He has passed for 9,315 yards and a league-high 26 touchdowns. Ah Yat was named the most valuable player on offense in the Big Sky conference this season, his second MVP award in his four-year career.
Topping the AP Division I-AA All-America list were Scott Shields and Brian Westbrook, among college football's most versatile players.
Shields, a safety-kicker-punter for Weber State, became a three-time All-American when he made the team as a defensive back. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior had six interceptions, hit 16-of-23 field goal attempts and averaged 42.6 yards per punt.
Westbrook, Villanova's wide receiver-running back-return specialist, was the first player to top 1,000 yards receiving and rushing in a season. Westbrook, on the team as the all-purpose player, caught 89 passes for 1,144 yards, ran for 1,046 yards and led I-AA in all-purpose yards with 275.1 per game. He scored 26 touchdowns.
