Mo‘o sculpture
dedication tomorrow

Ka Mo'o'ili'ili, a three-piece, 100-foot long sculpture by Kazu Fukuda depicting the legendary mo'o (dragon), will be unveiled at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in front of the Kuhio School Library, 2759 S. King St.

Ka Mo'o'ili'ili introduces students to the Hawaiian legend of goddess Hi'iaka's battle with the mo'o, whose body was cut into pieces that turned into stone. Today, the area in which the battle took place is Mo'ili'ili and Kuhio School rests on a part of the dragon's body.

The sculptor spent 18 months designing the work, which is meant to provide an interactive experience. The back of the dragon has room to seat an entire class for picture taking or assembly.

Kuhio is the first school in the state to receive a sculpture under the Art in Public Places Artists in Residence pilot program. Commissioned artists are brought into public schools, allowing students to observe and participate in an art project from start to finish.

For more information about the project, call SFCA Commissions Project Manager Jon Johnson at 586-0304.

Relief is in the bag

Here's a product that should be on the desk of every office employee. A small drop of Origins Peace of Mind On-the-Spot Relief massaged into the skin can provide relief from minor muscle pains and headaches.

Some of the ingredients that go into this .5 fluid ounce lotion are French peppermint and eucalyptus. Both possess a thermogenic quality, creating heat that helps to increase circulation and energize the body.

Origins suggests placing a tiny dab onto your neck, temples, forehead or earlobes and breathing deeply whenever you need to relax.

Peace of Mind comes in a small pump-style bottle of lotion at the Origins cosmetic counter at Liberty House Ala Moana. The cost is $10.

While there, you'll also find many bath, body and facial products that smell good enough to eat.
