Others Ride You

Above, Hawaii's Derek Ho catches a rare tube yesterday at the
Mountain Dew Gerry Lopez Pipe Masters surf tournament at
Banzai Pipeline. Ho won his heat and advanced to the second
round. Below, Australia's Mick Campbell wasn't quite as lucky
on this particular ride. Campbell also advanced to the second
round by placing second in his heat yesterday.

Heat winners yesterday were Rob Machado, Andy Irons,
Peterson Rosa, Sunny Garcia, Shane Dorian, Mark Occhilupo,
Shane Beschen, Kelly Slater, Jake Paterson, Bruce Irons,
Renan Rocha and Shane Wehner. The competition is expected
to resume today, surf permitting. Three heats remain in the
first round. Round two heats will be reseeded according to
the surfer's World Championship Tour ratings, with a
man-on-man format. Results in Scoreboard
