Hawaii Nostalgia Studio has three new designs.

Nostalgia fit to
a T-shirt

Here today, gone tomorrow seems to the byword about those favorite places people grew up loving.

Hawaii Nostalgia Studio continues on its mission to keep the memories alive of Hawaii's bygone era with three new silk screen designs on T-shirts for the holiday season.

"KDI" (Kapiolani Drive Inn), where the Wailana Coffee House sits today, depicts a hula dancer on its roof with classic 1950s cars parked in front. "Classics" honors mom-and-pop establishments with a series of signs representing Kuhio Grill, Chunky's Drive In, Alex Drive In and Coco's Coffee House, are all wrapped around a tabletop juke-box selector and a plate of hamburger and french fries. An illustration of "Kelly's Coffee House," which is the latest establishment to fall by the wayside, has classic 1950s cars parked in front.

Suggested retail price per shirt is $15 and they are available at The Art Board, Vue Hawaii, Novel-T-World, Marukai Mart, Wal-Mart and at various craft fairs around Oahu.

Sizes run from medium to extra large. For more information call Hawaii Nostalgia Studio at 488-3987.

DJ jams for record

I-94 DJ Lanai will try to break his 94-hour live broadcast record during a Radio-a-Thon beginning at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 and ending 12:14 p.m. Dec. 31 at Ward Warehouse Amphitheater.

Lanai's goal is to raise $15,194 to top last year's $13,000 in pledges . Some of the funds raised will help to send Easter Seals Youth Service teens to Lanai's Camp Aloha in March. Special-designed wheelchairs will be used to transport the youths to the shoreline to touch the sand and ocean. Campers will also enjoy an evening disco.

Entertainers and volunteers will show up to help. Listeners may call in or bring in pledges. Watch for the Radio-a-Thon crew each morning at the corner of Ward Avenue and Auahi streets for surprises.
