"Ancient Sites of Hawaii"

James takes the reader on a tour of the Big Island starting at Hilo and traveling around the island, past heiaus, caves and other sites, to Hamakua. The book has many black and white pictures and drawings; and a brief glossary of Hawaiian terms.

Reggae Muff and Muffin's hike to the Makapu'u Lighthouse turns into a life saving adventure. Muffin also shares a few of her easy-to-make recipes.

"The Prince and the Li Hing Mui"

The classic fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea" is turned into a local tale of a prince who is kept awake by a li hing mui. Takayama resides in Kaneohe and works as a school librarian.

"Hawaiian Country Tables"

A look at Hawaii and its culture through delicious recipes, colorful pictures and historical information. There also is a guide to island fish and a short glossary.

"Hawaii's Keiki Christmas Collection"

Marjorie Cochrane, Zola Brown, Dot Saurer, Larry Rivera, Tandy Newsome and Clemi McLaren; $14.95, 56 pages, Island Heritage

Collection of six children Christmas stories. The collection includes a gecko who is afraid to walk on the ceiling and writes to Santa for help to a little boy who tried to save a pig from becoming Christmas dinner.

Little Rainbow Book Series

Various authors, $7.95 per book, 16-32 pages, Island Heritage

Part of Aloha Airlines' reading collection for children 11 and younger. Children are entered into the Aloha Bear Reading Club when a book is purchased and incentives are also given.

Bullet "Little Princess Ka'iulani in Her Garden by the Sea" tells the childhood adventures of the Princess.

Bullet "The Little Hawaiian Rainbow" shares his secret to how he got so many colors.

Bullet "The Three Little Pua'a" is a local version of "The Three Little Pigs" with a mo'o as the villain.

Bullet And, "Auntie" shows how a piece of fabric can serve several purposes.
