


Lucas Glover shot a 5-under-par 67 for a two-round total of 140 and a two-stroke lead over teammate Jonathan Byrd in the fifth annual Mauna Kea Resort Collegiate Invitational at the Hapuna Golf Course on the Big Island yesterday. Clemson leads
Mauna Kea golfHawaii-Hilo golfer Shane Hoshino was in third at 145.
Glover and Byrd helped Clemson to an eight-stroke lead in the team competition with a 578 total, ahead of International Pacific College. Hawaii was third at 608, UH-Hilo tied for fifth at 617.
Hawaii's top score came from Jarrod Mizusawa, nine strokes off the pace at 149.
The final round was to be played today.

APPAREL DEAL FOR ALOHA RACING TEAM: Aloha Racing, the Hawaii America's Cup Challenge, and Columbia Sportswear Company recently announced a major sponsorship agreement. Columbia will outfit the Aloha Racing America's Cup team and will design and market a collection of Official Aloha Racing apparel through retailers around the world.
Aloha Racing will begin construction of its first International America's Cup Class yacht this month at Ko Olina. The yacht, Abracadabra 2000, is being built to compete against as many as 16 other challengers for the America's Cup in October, 1999, at Auckland, New Zealand.
YOUTH BASKETBALL TOURNEY: The Hawaii chapter of the National Junior Basketball organization will host the Hawaiian Hoops Youth tournament next Aug. 17-20 for boys 10-14 years old and girls 11-14.
The tournament will be open to mainland teams as well as Hawaii's best youth teams.
