Overseeing renovation at
Island Colony

Aston Hotels & Resorts has promoted Mike Tasaka to take over responsibilities for Waikiki properties and manage the Aston Island Colony. He has experience in pricing and budgeting to support Waikiki hotels.

"Renovation work continues at the Island Colony," Tasaka said. "We're in the second phase of the guest rooms. It will take two or three years to complete the (345) rooms in the rental pool. We'll also be doing some work in the public areas in the next year."

He has more than 18 years in the hospitality industry and most recently was operations manager at Aston's corporate office on special projects. He worked on the transition of the Aston at the Executive Centre Hotel and the renovation of the Keauhou Beach Resort. Tasaka joined Aston in 1995 as general manager of the Aston Waikiki Terrace Hotel. He also worked 15 years for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
