Bellinger Shoot-Out

Hawaii's David Ishii, and PGA Tour pro Paul Azinger will be part of the field for the $25,000 Johnny Bellinger Shoot-Out on January 11-17 at the Waialae Country Club.

The Shoot-Out, set for Jan. 12, is part of the inaugural Sony Open in Hawaii, the newest event on the 1999 PGA Tour schedule.

Ishii is the only golfer to play in all 11 previous events, earning $28,600 to lead the list of 40 pro golfers. Azinger ranks second in prize money with $25,300. He has played in 10 Shoot-Outs. Both golfers have won the Shoot-Out twice--Ishii in 1998 and '93, Azinger in '92 and '90.

MILLION DOLLAR SHOOTOUT: KSSK listener Mona Ho, along with two other golfers, will take a shot at a million dollars in the National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournament today at 4:30 p.m.

The selected trio will attempt to score a hole-in-one on the Navy Marine Golf Course's 18th hole.

UH HOSTS SWIM MEET: University of Hawaii's swimming and diving program is hosting the Hawaii Senior Swimming Invitational tomorrow and Saturday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Swimmer registered with United States Swimming will compete in the two-day meet, which begins at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. on Saturday.

CHARITY DOUBLES TENNIS: The 11th Jeep Aloha Bowl Round Robin Doubles Tennis Tournament, a benefit for United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii, will be played Sunday, Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hawaii Tennis Academy.

The tournament is geared for players at the 3.0 to 4.0 playing level. Entry fee is $20. All players are guaranteed at least five games. For more information, call the UCPA office at 532-6744.

UH MEN'S GOLF HOST TOURNEY: The University of Hawaii men's golf team will host the Stan Sheriff Classic, Nov. 22-23, at Makena Golf Course on Maui.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on both days. The 10-team field includes host Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo, No. 19 East Tennessee State, Purdue, San Francisco, No. 6 Texas, UC Davis, and international participants Kansai and Osaka Gakuin of Japan and International Pacific College Australia.

Three players competing in the Classic are ranked in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings (Nov. 11): No. 1 David Gossett (Texas), No. 20 Eamonn Bradley (ETS), No. 21 David Christensen (ETS).

Hawaii won the tournament title last year with a team score of 910, 11 strokes ahead of Hawaii-Hilo.
