Furukawas perfect
10 gets him
Fever prizeMichigan and Detroit
Star-Bulletin staff
came through for him
Howard Furukawa said he didn't expect all of his Football Fever picks to be correct. After all, Michigan was ranked behind Wisconsin in the national polls and the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions are pretty evenly matched.
Furukawa went with the two Michigan teams, however, and got all eight other games correct as well in the Star-Bulletin's weekly contest.
His 10-0 ballot was the first chosen among those that were equal to or better than our best celebrity panelist.
As such he is the 11th weekly winner of $500 and four tickets to the Jeep Oahu Bowl on Christmas Day.
"It was a nip-and-tuck selection," Furukawa said of his decision to take that Lions over the Bears. "With their new quarterback (Charlie Batch), they have the better passing game."
Star-Bulletin writer Cindy Luis, KINE radio host Brickwood Galuteria and the previous week's winner, Shaun Mansfield, were the top panelists last week. All three had 9-1 marks.
