Catch the
falling stars

The sky will be lit tonight with the Leonid Meteor Storm, and because the moon is close to its new phase, the spectacular shower of 100 to 10,000 meteors per hour should be visible throughout Hawaii.

The Bishop Museum Planetarium recommends that, for the best views, islanders get far away from city lights. Peak viewing will be between 1 to 6 a.m. tomorrow.

The cause of all the fireworks is the Earth's passage through debris, the size of grains of rice, left behind by Comet P/Temple-Tuttle. As the debris enters Earth's atmosphere, it burns up, creating the show.
