Last week's victory over Brigham Young last week meant a double boost for the Hawaii women's volleyball team.

The Wahine moved up two spots in the USA Today/AVCA Coaches poll and, for the second consecutive week, a Hawaii player -- junior Heather Bown -- was named the WAC player of the week.

Hawaii (21-2, 11-2) is ranked No. 7 following its 13-15, 13-15, 15-2, 15-5, 16-14 win over the then No. 4 Cougars. BYU dropped two places to sixth.

The top three spots in the poll remained unchanged as the trio all stayed unbeaten: Long Beach State (24-0), Penn State (24-0) and Nebraska (23-0).

Stanford moved up a spot to fourth while Florida also moved one place into fifth. Wisconsin stayed at No. 8 while Pacific, which upset UC Santa Barbara last week, moved up to No. 9; UCSB fell from seventh to 10th.

Bown, a transfer from UCSB, helped the Wahine to two critical conference wins last week. She had a combined 34 kills, 12 blocks and .342., and ranks second in the WAC in hitting (.406) and kill average (4.58), and third in block average (1.60).

Hawaii hosts Brigham Young-Hawaii tonight at 7 p.m. The Seasiders (24-0) are ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, have won their last 60 matches and are 112-1 dating back to 1995.
