Dan Vasquez expressed economic optimism as the Brew Moon restaurant and microbrewery opened yesterday at Ward Centre. "The restaurant has about 300 seats and 150 employees," Vasquez said. "It shows our faith in the Hawaii economy." New GM shooting for
the (Brew) MoonBrew Moon, founded in Boston, specializes in mainland-style fish and meat dishes and a variety of beers, including Hawaii's first microbrewery "light" beer. "We also are going to have music a few nights a week," Vasquez said. "Some nights will be jazz, Hawaiian and possibly a pianist."
Brew Moon has five other restaurants -- four in Boston, and one in Pennsylvania. He worked 18 years for TS Restaurants and most recently was general manager of Leilani's on the Beach in Maui and Duke's Restaurant & Bar. Vasquez also opened locations for The Rusty Scupper restaurants in Iowa, Illinois, New Jersey, California, Rhode Island, New York and Missouri.
