Halau re-enacts arrival

The 115th anniversary of the arrival of Mother Marianne Cope and the
Franciscan Sisters of Syracuse was re-enacted yesterday at Kakaako
Waterfront Park by the Halau Hula O‘Maiki. Above, Heather Marsh represents
Mother Marianne. In 1883, King Kalakaua asked Mother Marianne to come to
Hawaii to care for people with leprosy.
