World Art Bazaar
coming Nov. 28

Find that unusual basket or vintage jacket at the Honolulu Academy of Art's World Art Bazaar opening Nov. 28.

The bazaar will run from 10 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through Christmas Eve (except Dec. 12) and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. There will be no admission fees for those going to the bazaar, the academy shop or the Garden Cafe.

Among the items for sale will be antique Chinese baskets and furniture, Indonesia textile hangers, vintage Japanese kimonos, masks and baskets from Arica, folk crafts and jewelry from many cultures, lacquer ornaments from India, ikat sarongs and carvings from Papua New Guinea.

Playmate search on

Playboy magazine is searching for Playmates from coast to coast to appear in its millennium issue in January 2000.

The Hawaii search runs 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today through Wednesday at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. Interested women, 18 and older, should call 1-(888)-720-0028 to arrange an interview.

Prospective playmates should wear a two-piece swimsuit and have two forms of I.D.

New Year with Ray

In New Year tradition, Ray Charles will be back with his mix of R&B, rock and jazz at Hilton Hawaiian Village's Coral Ballroom.

The concert takes place Dec. 31, with doors opening at 9 p.m. and pre-show entertainment to 10:30 p.m. Charles takes the stage at 11 p.m.

Tickets are $125 and $100 and include a standard cocktail, half bottle of Hilton champagne, favors, service charge and tax. Call 947-7877 to reserve seats.
