Surf Maui's 'Jaws'
while surfing Web

A dozen times a year, Pacific storms churn Maui's north shore, making monster waves called "Jaws." Reaching heights of 70 feet, they are some of the biggest waves in the world.

National Geographic this month has the details at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/index.html.

From there you can surf over to the Center for Applied Research site at http://www.coastal.udel.edu/ngs/, where you can learn how nature forms the huge waves.

There's also a site to check out the coffee-table book about the isolated surfing area aptly named Jaws Maui, at http://www.jawsmaui.com/. It has some spectacular pictures of surfers screaming down the face of those giants.
