Oiling the way for
Tesoro communication

Yolanda DeWeese is responsible for all aspects of computer systems for Tesoro Hawaii Corp., including a new effort to improve communications between Tesoro's mainland locations.

"It's called 'collaborative computing' and allows people to speak and work together like they were on a single PC (personal computer)," DeWeese said.

The link between Honolulu and Tesoro's headquarters in San Antonio was put in place about two months ago, and other company links are planned to Alaska, Washington and Oregon. Tesoro Petroleum Corp. acquired BHP Hawaii's operations in May.

DeWeese joined the company in 1994 and became a business analyst in 1996. She also was self-employed as an information technology consultant for three years in Hawaii and five years in California. She got a bachelor's in business administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
