

Before going trick-or-treating, kids can get a firsthand peek at some spooky stuff at Leeward Community College's "Excitement in Education" family fun and craft fair. Put Excitement
in your lifeThe event runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and offers the opportunity to examine human bones, see a real brain, participate in a "moon jump," witness video F/X and create polymer putty. Other activities include face and body painting, cookie decorating, carnival games and more.

Do you hate wearing a costume for Halloween? Here are some reasons to dress up for Honolulu Symphony's "Fright Night! A Halloween Costume Spooktacular" at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday at Blaisdell Concert Hall. Phantom of the concert hall
There will be a grand prize for two to Las Vegas awaiting the winner of the event's costume contest. Costumes will be judged by celebrity judges in the concert hall 30 minutes before each performance and throughout intermission. Second prize will be a trip to Maui's Kapalua Bay Resort.
There will be special performances by Tony Award winner Michael Maguire and by "The Phantom of the Opera's" original Christine, Jan Horvath.
The Honolulu Dance Theatre will perform Gounod's "Funeral March of the Marionettes" and assistant conductor Stuart Chafetz, a k a Count Dracula, rises from the orchestra pit in a coffin.
All 63 orchestra musicians will be in costume, performing scary music, including the themes from "Jaws," "The Addams Family," "The Munsters" and "The X-Files."
Tickets are $15 to $50. Kids 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult .
