BYU-Hawaii runs
its record to 19-0

HILO -- The BYU-Hawaii women's volleyball team upped its perfect record to 19-0 with a four-set win over Hawaii-Hilo, 15-2, 10-15, 15-4, 15-7, at the UHH Gymnasium yesterday.

The NCAA Division II No. 1 Seasiders were led by Arlete Silva, who posted 19 kills while hitting .389. She also had four total blocks and nine digs. Vanessa Valansi added 14 kills, 10 digs and three aces.

Hilo's offense was led by Heather Campbell, who finished with 13 kills and 8 blocks.

CHAMINADE SWEEPS: Hinano Warfield had 15 kills to lead the Chaminade over Millersville, 16-14, 15-11, 15-10, last night in a college women's volleyball match at McCabe Gym.

The Silverswords also had 18 digs and five service aces from Gerrine Sam Fong.

LUNN'S TEAM LEADS: At Kaanapali, Maui, playing with Senior PGA Tour pro Bob Lunn, the foursome of Bum-Soo Kim, Ok Jin Jung, Seung Jae Kim and Hoon Shin combined for a 21-under par 50 to lead in the first round of the EMC Kaanapali Classic Pro-Am at the Kaanapali North Course.

Teams of Harold Hennings (Mike Nobriga, Dennis Shimomura, Ward Yamashiro, Hari Kojima) and Doug Sanders (D. Clark Tesh, Richard White, Robert Lamaysou, Norman Kay) were tied for second with 20-under par 51 yesterday.
