Managing isle sales for Equitable

Marivic G. Dar will manage the Hawaii sales office, including branches on the neighbor islands, for the Equitable Companies Inc. There are 50 Equitable associates in Hawaii.

"This is another proof that women can break through the corporate glass ceiling," Dar said.

She has been with Equitable since 1992 and is a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable and National Association of Life Underwriters.

Dar is a director with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and a member of the Hawaii Coalition of Women Entrepreneurs. She also is on the Aloha United Way board of directors and the Hawaii Family Support Center's advisory board.

Dar earned a degree in international studies from the University of Philippines in Manila and a master's degree in political economy from the University of Hawaii.
