TWA fare sale includes
Star-Bulletin staff
Honolulu flightsTrans World Airlines today launched a short-term national fare sale that cuts ticket prices up to 50 percent, if they are purchased by Friday. Included is a Honolulu-New York fare of $595, excluding airport fees, down 39.5 percent from the previously posted $983.
Several other airlines matched TWA this morning, said David Fuller of International Travel Service Inc. in Honolulu. But he added that there are earlier sale fares still listed in the computers and comparisons are difficult. TWA, for example, also still has a $639 Honolulu-New York round trip for sale under an earlier offer.
TWA advises checking with travel agents or calling its reservations number, 1-800-221-2000, for more information.
TWA does not fly between Hawaii and the West Coast, instead running direct to its hub in St. Louis. Some of the other round-trip sales fares it is offering are Los Angeles-St. Louis for $300, down from $493; St. Louis-New York for $199, down from $325; and San Francisco-Boston for $299, down from $582. Travel at its sales fares must be completed by Feb. 10. Tickets are not refundable and there is a 14-day advance purchase requirement and other restrictions.
