Bank on feeding the hungry

This is National Food Bank Week, an ideal time to make a donation of time, cash or canned goods to the needy. The theme for the drive is "Get Connected."

The Hawaii Foodbank collects groceries from the community and food industry for distribution to charities that feed the hungry. About 6 million pounds of food will go to some 300 agencies this year.

The symbol of this week's food drive is an orange lapel ribbon. To get one or to make a donation, call 836-3600 or visit the Web site: http://www.hawaiifoodbank.org.
