Bullet Alfredo “Freddie” Alesna, 69, of Pukalani, Maui, a retired welder, died Sunday in Maui Memorial Hospital. Born in Ewa, he is survived by wife Lorraine K.; sons Alfredo and Ronnie Alesna, and Zac Kapoi; daughters Gloria Fernandez, Helene Aquino, Trina Antoque, Juanita “Kainoa” Ortiz, Pamela Alesna and Ginger Chin; hanai daughter Karin Manthei; brother Dalmacio; sisters Lucia Antoque and Loretta Alison; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Bullet Margaret S. Austin, 99, of Honolulu died Monday in Manoa Care Home. Born in Honolulu, she is survived by nieces and nephews Lillian Mason, Ruth Bartishevich, Dorothy Pietropaolo, Elizabeth Wagner, Herbert Horner, Martha Mist, Margaret Ehlke, Barbara Schaefer, Donald Austin, Gerald DenHamer, and Robert, Jane and Stafford Silverman. Bullet Shankar J. Benn, 14, of Haiku, Maui, an eighth-grade student at Kalama Intermediate School, died Sept. 24 in Kapiolani Hospital. Born in Palm Springs, Calif., he is survived by father Daniel, mother Sherri L. Caudill, stepmother Loretta Hughes, brothers Ruben and Hector Tagle and Seth Kirkland, sister Jesse Caudill, paternal grandparents Ralph and Nell, and maternal grandmother Dorothy Kirkland. Bullet Jose Blankleder, 89, of Honolulu, a retired Honolulu Symphony Orchestra member, died Tuesday in Honolulu. He was born in London. He is survived by wife Jospa; sons Julio, Ismael and Jorge; daughter Nery; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services: noon Oct. 21, at the Musicians Association Center of Honolulu.

Bullet James J. Calisto, 71, of Wahiawa, a retired mason, died Tuesday in St. Francis-West Hospice. Born in Philadelphia, he is survived by wife Beatrice; sons Myron, Stevenson and Douglas; daughters Valerie and Paula Calisto, Shirley Greene, Edmae Bryson and Violet Hackett; brother Eddie; sister Camile Edwins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bullet Teruo Hashimoto, of Kahului, died Thursday in Maui Memorial Hospital. Born in Spreckelsville, Maui, he is survived by wife Peggy S., son Al, daughters Barbara Kokubun and Faye Tsukamoto, brother Tadashi, sister Toshiko Yamashita, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bullet Marion Hinkson, 83, of Honolulu, a retired staffing coordinator for Kokua Nursing, died June 13 in Honolulu. She was born in Wisconsin. Services: 7 p.m. Monday at Nuuanu Memorial Park, West Chapel. Burial on the mainland.

Bullet Kimi Iwasaki, 90, of Hawaii Kai, formerly of Hilo, died Sept. 26 in Straub Hospital. Born in Hilo, she is survived by husband Koji; sons Dr. Ernest, Donald and George; daughter Carol Ing; sisters Kathleen Woo and Chiyo “Kay” Kimura; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
