I dropped off my daughter to go to a high school football game at 2 p.m. Sept. 12. But she and her friends were charged 50 cents each as if they were going to the swap meet, then they were charged to go to the football game. That's unfair. The stadium should have a policy to cover situations like that when they have overlapping functions. Stadium parking fee
up to major licenseeAloha Stadium officials have "been flexible" in working with the public if such charges are a concern, which so far hasn't been the case, said Scott Chan, assistant events administrator.
He said your complaint had been resolved.
Chan explained that the major licensee for a particular event at the stadium controls the parking. The Aloha Stadium Flea Market is the major licensee on flea market days. The stadium's parking attendants don't come on duty until after the event ends, he said.
So, the operator of the flea market has "a right to charge or to waive (parking) costs," Chan said.
However, similar questions or complaints should be addressed to the stadium. Call 486-9555.
There is a problem at the underpass from Honolulu Airport to the H-1 freeway.
There must be 50-80 lights all burned out, so you go from bright light into darkness. It's unsafe. It's been a while now that the lights haven't been replaced. What can be done?
Your question came in a while ago, but we only recently got the answer from the state Department of Transportation.
The DOT's electrical crew repaired defective lights under the Airport Viaduct in July. However, the lights are turned on only during the night, said Pericles Manthos, the Highways Division administrator.
"There should be no visibility problems for drivers during the day," he said.
I had another flat tire on the H-1 freeway just before the Pearl City offramp. On that day, I was informed by the tow truck driver that there were at least a dozen he knew of, evidently caused by sharp objects on the road because of road work. I paid for towing, plus a new tire. I feel I should be reimbursed by the Department of Transportation. How do I go about doing that?
Claims for damages due to H-1 freeway construction are being referred to the contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co., said Pericles Manthos, state Highways Division administrator.
"We have asked that they keep their work area clean and free of sharp objects," he said.
There is heavy vehicle and foot traffic, robberies and sometimes suspicious activity in the area surrounding the Kaheka Street Daiei. Senior citizens, tourists, disabled people and children use the crosswalks and sidewalks in the neighborhood, going to church, businesses and banks. Police should open a kiosk there to monitor activity. -- No name Auwe
To two lady cashiers at Tropic Fish and Vegetable Center. I locked my keys in the trunk of my car, and they were nice to offer help and refer me to security. Mahalo also to the security guard for unlocking my door. I was able to come home safely. -- D.M. Mahalo
To the so-called maximum security at the Bob Dylan concert at UH. The concert was good, but while security was good to take your umbrella, they did nothing to keep people who came in late from barging into the front. We arrived two hours early to get a spot in the front row, only to have people walk up, one by one, to stand and sit in front of us. It was very unfair. -- No name Auwe
