

Back again to troll the waters, the Hawaii Fishermen's Festival takes place 8:30 a.m. to sunset tomorrow and Sunday at Haleiwa's Ali'i Beach Park. Net facts, fun at fishing fest
Events include demonstrations of fishing traditions and maritime history, conservation, ecology and activities for kids. Talks will be given on subjects like "Taking Care of Hawaii's Fisheries" and "Fish Poisoning (Ciguatera)."
Look for tips on boating safety, a trade show, entertainment, games and food. Funding for the festival comes from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Also involved in the festival is Kamehameha Schools and Bishop Estate, which is sponsoring a booth called "Ahupua'a 2000" showing how estate land is cultivated from mountains to the sea.

The Tommy Castro Band will entertain at the Halloween Beaux Arts Costume Bash Oct. 31 at the Honolulu Zoo. Look who's at the zoo
Guitar-playing vocalist Castro leads the blues-rock house band for TV's "Comedy Showcase."
Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the gate. They are available at the zoo, Tower Video Kapiolani, Tower Records Kahala and Pearl Kai, Rainbow Books at the University of Hawaii-Manoa and Hungry Ear Kailua.
In addition to music, there will be costume and pumpkin-carving contests. Concert-goers are encouraged to dress as their favorite animals. There will be prizes for best costumes.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.; the show starts at 6. No outside food or drinks will be allowed; sand chairs only.

Pop vocalist and pianist Michael Feinstein has rescheduled his November performance with the Honolulu Symphony. The new date is May 21, with the concert scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. at Waikiki Shell. New date for Feinstein

Screenwriter, producer and consultant Madeline Di Maggio returns to Honolulu to work with those interested in writing or rewriting movie and/or television scripts. Wanna write a screenplay?
The three session "Screenwriting" will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5 at the University of Hawaii, Krauss Hall, Yukiyoshi Room. The cost for the entire series is $225.
The workshop gives new writers a chance to learn to develop an idea, structure a storyline and write a screenplay. For experienced screenwriters, Di Maggio gives a working professional's critique.
